When you're little you say, I can't wait till I'm older. I can't wait till I can drive and go wherever I want, whenever I want. I'm going to just get in my car and drive and drive and I'll see all the world has to offer.
When you're little you say, I can't wait till I'm older. No one will tell me what to do. I can make my own plans, my own choices. Stay up all night long! Eat as much candy as I want, when I want!
When you're little you say, I can't wait till I'm older. I can buy whatever I want. I'll have all the latest toys and can get what I want, when I want it. No one will say, no you can't have it or we'll see. "Yeah... when I get older I'll have it all!"
Then you grow up and you start to realize that you wish you could go back to those days.
Now that I'm older and I can drive, I realize, yes its true I can go where I want, when I want to go... But I don't have the time or money to go to any of the places I thought of. The great adventures are few and far between, if existent.
Now I'm older and on my own... But I remember what it was like having someone tell me each step and miss those days. Now thousands of choices bombard me and I have to make only the "Right" ones. I constantly worry if my decisions are correct even though there really is no "right" and "wrong" in life. Now I'm asleep by 10:00 and don't have much of a sweet tooth.
Now that I'm older and I can "buy what I want", I realize I don't have the same desire to own all of the latest "shiny new games". I work for my money and save it for what really matters to me. I don't need every little thing.
I miss some of the securities that came with being young. People always warn enjoy it while you're young. The old adage is true. You don't truly appreciate things till their gone.
I miss looking forward to growing up!
