Yield

written by: Sweet Insanity

At what point do you ignore your own wants for those of another's
When your desires don't align how do you stay true to yourself
Do you compromise your own basic needs, and settle
In short, what do you do when you're torn between what your head and heart want?

In order to keep you in my life I have to submit to your needs and wants
After all of these years and all of this love I don't want to loose you
But how do I resign to fulfill your needs by ignoring my own?

It seems to me that my options are always limited to give you what you want or leave
I never want to live without you, so I'm always the one to yield
Now here I am, giving in so often that I'm going to collapse

How do I look in the mirror and approve of who I am,
When I know that I'm only this way because of you
I began conceding to the little things because they were meaningless
But as the years have passes the concessions have increased and I looked the other way

Now I realize that half of my decisions are not my own
I love you and I want you in my life...
But how do I say that to myself at the same time

If being true to you and your needs
Means ignoring my own
How can we believe that this is a fair and equal relationship?

When I try to tell you,
You say you don't see
When I try to show you
It's all in my head

So maybe I'm not the one with the problem
That being said....

At what point do you ignore your own wants for those of another's
When your desires don't align how do you stay true to yourself
Do you compromise your own basic needs, and settle
In short, what do you do when you're torn between what your head and heart want?
