i cried (sarah)

written by: babeestars

I sat at home and cried. Cried because she knew, I cried because I'd waited so long to tell her. I cried because I needed her now to help me through a rough patch, but she couldn't because that rough patch was with her. Each night I cried myself to sleep because each day I didn't see her. I hadn't contacted her and she hadn't contacted me, so that was how it had stayed. Maybe this really was goodbye forever.
"Come on Sarah, you haven't been into town with us for weeks."
"I don't feel like it."
"Come on!" Emily grabbed my wrist pulling me out the door, down the road and round the corner. I made her walk the whole way to town because I preferred it to getting the bus. We laughed till we cried, and it was amazing, just like the old times, and I really started to enjoy myself. We took a different route because I couldn't bear to walk past Katie's house. We ran round the park like dogs on speed, we climbed trees; fell out of trees, laughed till we couldn't laugh anymore. We got coffee, Emily piled hers high with sugar because she wouldn't drink it otherwise, where as I left mine without. So we drank coffee sitting on a park bench. Then we finally walked back to town, laughing at ourselves because of things we'd said or done earlier. We sat on rocks by the fountain, but Emily seemed on edge. She had wanted to sit here, so I'd let her. Normally it was me that wanted to sit on the rocks but this time she asked. I almost got up and left when I saw her walking towards me, I knew it had been planned. Emily bit her lip and looked at me. "Why?" I asked her, "why?"
"I had to, I know you and Katie have been through a rough patch, but you always sort things out, so you can again, you've both been acting miserable."
"You set us up?" I couldn't believe what I was hearing, "you had to ruin a great day out didn't you?" she looked away guiltily."
"She wanted to see you, she knew you would be here, but I knew if I told you, you wouldn't come."
"You were right." I picked up my bag and jumped down of the rock, Emily grabbed my arm as I landed.
"Sarah, please, just Talk to her."
"Do you know what happened, do you know why we don't see each other?" Emily shook her head, but then Katie was behind me. I glared at her.
"Would you like to tell Emily why we haven't spoken in over a month or shall I?" she didn't reply. "Katie told me she never wanted to see me again, oh and remember when I got hit by a car? Katie was there; well she walked away from me, when I was lying in a road. Well basically I'm adopted, sorry I never told you, but I don't want people knowing. Not even Katie knew, because her mum didn't want me to tell her, want to know why her mum didn't want me to tell her. Because I'm her sister. I'm Katie's sister." She gasped and let go of my wrist. "And Katie stuck to her word, it really was goodbye forever." I turned to look at my sister, "you can't play games with me Katie." I walked away from them.
"Sarah," Katie's voice made me go like jelly, It was the first time I'd heard it since she'd told me to get out of her house. "Sarah." I turned back. "Happy birthday." I crumbled on the floor. Emily put her hand over her mouth, completely stunned, without me reminding her she'd forgotten it was my birthday. Katie walked over to me and took my hand in hers, pulling me to my feet." We stood face to face, and to everyone else we could have looked like twins. Our blonde hair flowing perfectly straight over our shoulders, our glistening eyes heavy with black eyeliner. Sun glasses positioned expertly on top of our heads. We were one of the same, just like we always had been.
