The Fun was in the Fight

written by: Sweet Insanity

You used to have a dream,
a sweet and innocent dream
Of a perfect girl in your perfect world
with whom you could spend your life
She used to be your unattainable goal,
your sword in the stone
Then one uneventful day,
she came into your life
You never really expected her
so you decided to fight

You wanted to make her yours
as much as you wanted your next breath;
You needed her to fulfill your life,
to fill your empty voids
You were determined to make her yours
as you wooed her with your charms
You showed her all the best you had to offer
to make her fall into your arms

Like a child who strives to learn to ride a bike, you fought
When you were knocked down, you'd try twice as hard to win
You chased her until you had her cornered;
she had no idea how deep she was
Then one day all plans fell into place
and she was completely yours

She was the girl you used to dream about...
the; "If only" and "I wish"
But what do you do
when all your dreams have come true?
What do you do when you realize
the fun was in the fight?

Like any sportsman will tell you,
they play for the love of the game...
So when the trophies are handed out,
what's left?

Do you keep the trophy
you worked so hard to get...
And stay content with remembering
when you had a dream...
When you had to fight...

Or do you start over... Start from scratch...
Rethink the girl...Make a new dream
And await a new hunt?
